Every year, Orem City hosts Summerfest. I've had a strange relationship with the annual carnival.. Discovered the thrill of the Zipper, and the Gravitron, discovered the consequences of a ride manned by an overly generous carney and multiple Gs, and everything in between.

Anyway, this year was as interesting as ever before.. We met up with some friends who are social butterflies and very quick minded.. not really something I'm used to. I enjoyed the company of course, but my head was reeling trying to pay attention to the criss-crossing conversations, familiar faces floating in and out of view, greetings and goodbyes happening far too quickly, and trying to decide which ride held the most promise for me.

Missy and I bought 30 tickets to share between us, but it was so crowed that we ended up giving our tickets away to most of our friends so we could all ride one last ride.. Missy got to ride the Gravitron, but I stood in line for the Zipper with Jake (and others who flitted in and out) for probably an hour and had no luck. Although, standing in line was probably more fun for me than getting to ride the Zipper anyway.. The fireworks started and we all stood silent, watching. Beautiful as always. Then, security announced that everything was closed. Meh, oh well...


I did enjoy myself. But the carnival really had nothing to do with that. Maybe next year I'll enjoy the festivities as well as the company.
